Governor's Proposed Budget

On February 6, 2018 Governor Wolf presented the commonwealth's 2018-19 budget proposal. Highlights from the proposal:

  • Higher Education was level funded, with the exception of the State System of Higher Education (SSHE)
  • The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will receive a decrease of $500,000. PHEAA augmentation is expected at $87 million, while PHEAA indicated only $50 million.
  • Additional funding will be needed for the State Grant program, in order to sustain current students and additional students under the Distance Education program. 
  • No additional funding for the Distance Education program or the Ready to Succeed Scholarship (RTSS) Program.
