More About Aggregated Group Purchasing Minimize

Aggregated Group Purchasing Through Global GPO

Provista is a nearly $40 billion per year group purchasing organization (GPO) that delivers value to member organizations like AICUP through their price leadership strategies. AICUP’s collaboration with Provista provides members access to the most competitive and extensive portfolio available. Through Novation, Provista’s supply contracting company, Provista leverages nearly $40 billion in annual purchasing power, commanding the best pricing and the most favorable terms and conditions available in the market. As a testament to Provista’s ability to drive value to their membership, in 2010 Provista members experienced additional value of $177 million through lower prices, cost avoidance and price rollbacks.

In 2009, AICUP recognized a need to create a way for its members to access the highly leveraged contracts of Provista in a more cost effective way, without having to involve representatives from Provista and their contracted suppliers. AICUP’s objective was to make it easier for members to purchase products and services, and at the same time achieve the most competitive pricing collectively. So in early 2010, Unimarket, an eProcurement company, launched an initiative to make this process “self-serve” for members.

Unimarket worked with AICUP to develop an eProcurement Portal product specifically for AICUP’s needs. This innovative program off ers AICUP members an on-demand, over-the-Web access to Provista’s purchasing contracts. Members will find that through a variety of contracted product lines, there is more flexibility to find products that meet specific needs. Members have the opportunity to add previous large volume direct manufacturer agreements to their contracted items or lines so they don’t miss a step in the supply chain. A college can have multiple buyers.
